Simulation of hole drilling with laser

I am performing FEA simulation using Abaqus, where a hole is formed with a given laser power. Let's say the laser beam penetrates the metal a half-inch thick.

My question is regarding the BCs. How do I set the BC so the heat source gradually moves down the metal plate as the element melts?
