Hi!
Can someone suggest where I can find, possibly free,Simulink model for
a)stepper motor driver
b)BLDC motor driver

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about Simulink but have experience with stepper and BLDC motors. What exactly do you need? <nbucska@pcperipherals.com>

Thank for your prompt answer.

My target is to calculate the performancies of stepper and BLDC motors starting from catalog's data of the producers.
Actually I'm able to calculate the pull-out torque of steppers with an error of ± 10% on a wide speed range,100 ÷ 10000 Steps/s (@ bipolar chopper mode, open loop)with reasonable over voltages drive.
The calculations are made in steady state conditions by using an Excel worksheet.
Now,what I'm trying to do,it is to simulate the motor in dynamic conditions by using Simulink,an application toolbox of Matlab to solve systems of differential equations, but I discovered that it's not so easy to model the drive(bipolar chopper).
Similar problem I have for BLDC motor.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

How to use simulink for electrical motors?

Suggestions:
1. Simulink is just convenient software for mathematical modeling similarly as calculator is a convenient device to calculate, e.g. 9x19+91
2. If you have a particular motor in mind to analyze by Simulink, obtain its theoretical description/explanation from textbooks with good understanding of relationships and model the mathematical description within Simulink according to what is required as an output.

Try out the Power System Blockset!. With the help of this blockset you can simulate electrical motors, drive circuits, and so on.

There is a matlab forum on Eng-tips. It's under Engineering computer programs.
