Simultaneous Drilling and Tapping in Brass

Hello Engineers!!!

I want to drill and tap simultaneously in Brass Inserts.
Is it possible using normal drill machine and any special
chucks? Please guide.

Maybe you can look into screw machines:

An italian company named Buffoli has a great history of transfer machining.

Acme-Gridley and DMG/Gildemeister are good choices, too.
 
i think it depends what the thickness is. you can buy "Drill-N-Tap" from J&L and probably other suppliers, there not expensive. they are only suitable for through holes. basically its a drill and half way up its a tap. so you drill through your part and then tap it in one. in my very limited experience , i used one on a turret milling m/c. i drilled through then reduced the speed and tapped through. i didnt use a tapping head , jut hand feed , when it starts to tap the tap pulls itself through. you could probably do it on an ordinary drilling m/c at a slower speed than you would normally drill that size of a hole at.
the workpiece thickness is the deciding factor.
