Hi all,
I have created a hyperelastic material in ABAQUS/Explicit using experimental data from a uniaxial tension test. When I use the "Evaluate Material" option in ABAQUS/CAE the material is found to be stable over the strain range and the predicted uniaxial nominal stress vs strain curve is in good comparison with my experimental data.
As a further evaluation I have set up a single-element (C3D8R) uniaxial tension test. There are many sample input files for single-element tests in the Verification Manual and I have set up my constraints as shown in these cases. I then use displacement control to simulate the tension test.
To calculate nominal stress from the results I have summed the reaction forces at the displaced nodes and divided by the original area of the element. To calculate the nominal strain I have divided the displacement at the displaced nodes by the original depth of the element. In both cases I have considered only the components in the direction of the displacement (RF3 and U3).
When I plot these results against the experimental data there is a small discrepency between the experimental and numerical plots that becomes more significant as strain increases.
Have I missed something with my post-processing method? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Dave
