Siphonic Roof Drains

Has anybody used these in a design?

I have a project where we might want to use them, but I have never designed for this.

I have information on how, but I want to get some feedback from engineers who have used them and what to look out for.

I see you have no reply - perhaps you would be better posting on the civil/environment forum

We have been using siphonic roof drains in the UK for 20 years. We even have a Siphonic Roof Drainage Association - SRDA.

Advantage is that you can get away with fewer down pipes and you don't need any fall on collector pipe - you can run horizontal. Problems occur if inlets are damaged allowing air to enter and preventing the siphon from priming.

I would expect if you post on the civil forum you will be more likely get a response from someone who has used them - I only know of them

That is the problem I run into.

I posted it here since almost nobody goes to the plumbing engineering forum - which is where it should be posted.

I didn't post it on the Civil forum since here in the US, they don't usually do the building stuff.

I will wait awhile and see if anybody else notices it.
