Site Grading/Stormwater Design - Intro 1

I am looking to get into these fields, to bring additional services to the firm I work at (design pads for substations). Can anyone recommend training/courses/books that would be helpful for a newbie? Also, any industry standard manuals/procedures. Thanks!

For stormwater, one place to start is with the technical information available from manufacturer's of stormwater management products. Examples are Contech and ADS.

There is are a slew of books/whitepapers that you should have the first of which should be Applied Hydrology, CHOW/MAINDMENT/MAYS, 1988, then the bible for OPEN CHANNEL HYDRAULICS, CHOW, 1959; and finally a "catch all book", STORMWATER COLLECTION SYSTEMS DESIGN HANDBOOK, Larry W. Mays, 2001 (McGraw-Hill). The last book I cited covers a broad collection of drainage design procedures and references. I purchased it back then and keep it on my shelf for the younger engineer to use as a reference source. Hope this helps.
