Size effect - Fibrous concrete

Hi,

Can anyone offer any help regarding size effect on fibrous beams?

Are there any equations or models i should pay attention to?

Your question is unclear. First, what do you mean by "fibrous beams"? Do you mean beams that are made with fiber enhanced concrete?

If that is the case, DO NOT believe anything you hear from a fiber supplier about reducing the amount of rebar with the use of fiber. THAT DOES NOT WORK AND IS DANGEROUS!!

Fiber only enhances the concrete mix, giving it slightly better properties for some applications. It should never be considered to replace rebar.

Yes apologies, i mean steel fibres that have been added to the mix (0.065%)

the fibres will obviously help with flexure, but i've been asked to look into size effect. Is that clearer?

The only effect it has on size is the change that you get in f'c, which is not that much.

Steel fibers do not provided continuous steel reinforcement as does rebar, and cannot be construed to be such.
