Size reduction of *.cae file

I have a problem with *.cae file size.

I was working in Abaqus with geometry imported from *.step file. Because solution was diverging, I copied the model, made some changes and tried again. Now I have about 30 models in *.cae and file size is about 1,5 GB. After removal of unnecessary models, the file size didn't change. My question is: what should I do to reduce size of .cae file?

Delete the mesh. You can easily recreate it later if you want to.
