Sizing a Evaporative Cooling Tower

We are designing a MSW gasification facility where we are required to treat the flue gas from the CFB (T exit = 1000C)so that we can use the syngas for power generation. However, the flue gas contains a lot of acid and needs to be scrubbed. We are considering a venturi scrubber, and through research we found that the temperature of the flue gas should be no more than 500C. As a result, we are considering the usage of an evaporative cooling tower, also known as the wet spray humidifier.

We are experiencing problem conducting the mass and energy balance and would appreciate any feedback in this regard.
