Hi everyone, i have to size a safety valve using API 521. Do i have to follow the standard orifice table in API 526 (D, E, F, ecc.)? I'm not sure about that because over this table the standard says: "These effective areas are valid only when used with the sizing equations in API 520, Part I".

Thank you very much for your help

API521 describes scenarios to consider and offers methods to calculate the relief flow rate.
API520 gives the equations for assessing the orifice size required for a given flow rate.

The hard bit is assessing the credible relief scenarios. If this is your first time, it's worth getting some help from somrone who's done it before.
