Sizing pressure vessel

Hi everyone,

I need to size a vessel under a pressure of 15 bar and a has a volume of 400 L. Does anyone know the steps to follow in order to calculate the thickness of the vessel and the details of welding.
A design calculation will be helpful.

You should look at ASME VIII or EN 13445 - That's quite a vessel to be designing without knowing what Step 1 is.
 
Such a question, with a bit more detail, would be better raised in the "Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering" forum, but following on from TED7's response, the first step will be to decide which code the vessel will be designed, manufactured, and tested to, then the rest will follow.
 
Thank you TED7 and JohnGP for your replies. The vessel will be designed according to ASME VIII.
What other details do i need to mention ?
 
This is really starting to scare me.
Please get help from someone local with experience in this, as it's vastly more complex than you imagine right now.
Besides design, there is welding procedures, material selection, reinforcement of nozzle holes, ... To think of, which you won't find on an internet forum.

 
Steps to follow

1) Hire a competent pressure vessel designer equipped with experience and software for design of your vessel. They will request whatever data is required to complete the design.
2) Send the results to an experienced and ASME accredited vessel manufacturer
3) Hire a competent 3rd party inspector to review the design and inspect the vessel during manufacture and approval by the relevant local vessel authority
4) Ensure your system is designed not to overpressure the vessel under any circumstance

Failure to do 1,2,3 or 4 leads to potential explosion, lawsuits and imprisonment. Of you.
