Hello friends,
I have this generator's silencer (see picture) , I need to size the correct support material to fix the silencer on the ceiling using threaded rod and C or L channel,
I really don't know where to start .
Thank you so much for your help

If you have no impediment fittings at the exhaust to gather thrust, the I would size the support for the dead load of the silencer plus a vibration factor of about 10 percent of dead load. The inlet pipe offers substantial structural support to the silence, so if you simply remove most of the load taken by that pipe, then serviceability will be increased.

As for the geometry of the support...it can be anything....underslung, overhead, combination, etc. Support should conform to the shape of the silencer so as not to induce point loads and stress corrosion potential.
