Sketch dims not visible in assembly when part is changed to work part

Our German division are having problems with working in the context of the assembly when trying to edit sketches.

If they make a part the work part and and then go to edit a sketch, there are only a small number of the total sketch dims visible, infact yesterday as I was looking via an app share, there was only 1 visible dimension. However, if we make the part in question the display part and edit the sketch, then all the dimensions are visible as you would expect.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Simon.

Are you actually editing the active Sketch, in either the Sketch task environment or the using the Direct Sketch tools, or are you editing the feature, such as an extrude, and when the sketch appears you select the sketch dimensions and edit their values while still in the Edit Feature dialog?

If you're doing the latter, the only dimensions which will appear, along with the sketch while in the Feature Edit dialog, are the actual driving dimensions. The auto-dimensions will ONLY be visible when you're actually in an edit sketch mode, either the Sketch Task environment or when using the Direct Sketch tools and the sketch is active.

We are actually editing the sketch itself in direct mode. It is very strange. I can try and get a screen shot for you.

@ John R Baker

Here is a power point that contains a couple of images of the sketches as described, as you can see, we are editing the sketch directly, and not an extrude feature.

Many thanks

Simon.

Of course there is always the "check your layer settings" thing.
Also make sure there is no funky "visible in View" settings, even in the model views.

Simon, I can't really explain this except that someone may have moved some of the dimensions to a different layer than the rest of the sketch is on. Perhaps you should open the sketch to where you can see everything and then move all the objects to same layer and see if that changes this behavior.
