How can I choose certain sketched symbols to appear by default on my template when I create a New .idw?

Thanks

Set up your symbols as Drawing Resources->Sketched Symbols and save the .idw as a new template under the Template directory where your Inventor resides. Do this with all of your symbols and you only have to use one .idw template.

Well,
I'm at a loss of how to do that. Currently the way I insert symbols is to expand the "drawing resources", expand the "sketched symbols", right click the symbol I want to insert, (ie, the "Notes text box") then click insert then attach it to the upper left corner. Is there a way to have it already inserted when I create a new .idw? The border and title blocks are shown in a new idw, so there must be a way to include an editable (text) symbol? It is inserted in the template idw when I save, but isnt when I create new..

thanks all.

Make your sketched symbols as usual. Save your .idw into the "Template" directory. This would be located under the Directory tree Inventor is in. When you start a new file, click on the template you made and the symbols will be there. This is assuming they were made as you say above.

Alternately, you could overwrite the template you normally use with the expanded one you make. I would suggest against this because you would need to reload Inventor to get the template back.
