Pro/GURUs,

Any clue why I might receive the following error in Sketcher mode:

"References to additional 3d geometry may not be made; please select again."

This is happening while trying to redefine a sketched feature. There are no geometry checks. Pro/E help did not seem to be helpful.

I am using Pro/E 2001 Build 2002180 with MS Windows NT.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Matthew Ian Loew

You are probably trying to reference geometry that was created after the sketch that you are re-defining was created. One way to avoid this is to "roll back" the model so that the "insertion point" is right after the sketch that your re-defining, this will remove features created after the sketch from the screen and should help avoid picking illegal references.

I think you problem is that the feature you are trying to redefine has a copy or a pattern. Most probably even "alignment" is greyed out. Even if you suppress the copies you will get the same message. You would have to delete the copies.

Joe,

Thanks for the tip. Indeed, that is the case. It is highly unsavory that I can not add references to a feature that has copied geometry. [curse]

Any work-arounds?

Yep, avoid using copied features wherever possible. This is only one of the problems they can cause.
