PLEASE HELP!!

i am under a major time constraint to finish a project, and PRO E is not cooperating (i guess just murphys law in action!!).

for some reason every time that i am in the sketcher mode and am drawing a part, PRO E will not show what I am drawing; for example, i begin in the skecther mode by clicking on the line segment button, to begin drawing the part- but for some reason PRO E will not show me drawing it, so i am drawing in the dark...sometimes the lines (or arcs or whatever) will flash very fast, but not allow me to see what i am drawing....then i click on the arrow button, say to define the dimensions, and the drawing is there, shown normally.
PRO E will still show the Datums, etc.. when i am sketching, just never the actual part lines.. this is becoming very frustrating and time consuming...i have tried adjusting many settings on my computer (such as startup programs, and turning off everything that isnt nessecary) all to no avail. I am running windows XP, with 768MB of ram...
any help would be much appreciated-DREW

Do I understand you are starting with a sketch and not with a model (with default datums, csys and parameters.)

yes, i am starting with a sketch- ie.. i know what the part should look like it so i begin to design it as such: (this is from memory, so please forgive a mistake) feature-create-protusion-extrude-single side-pick a datum for sketching view- pick a reference plane, then i begin to sketch it, just like any other part...
and what happens is that when i select the line button and i click in the drawing to begin, the line segment is gone, except for brief glimpses of it. then when i finish creating whatever oddly shaped part, i have to click on the arrow button, and it reveals all of the lines.. i cant figure out what is causing it..

Okay, here's a wild guess.
Sketched lines red, or whatever the current highlight color is, after the first click. Lines default to the current line color after the second click.
Your color configuration (View/Display Settings/System Colors/) may be causing this. Assuming, of course, it's not a hardware problem.
I haven't heard of this being a bug with XP yet. However...
Theoretically your PC shouldn't have problems until you start showing grids and curves. Then it's usually a video card issue. I don't think you are asking too much from your PC at this point.
It may very well be an XP issue. I am familiar with NT3.1/4.0 and 2000 issues but not XP:-(

procadman2:
thanks for the tips, i will try them. i agree that my computer isnt working that hard- it is more than capable of handling pro e, especially in sketcher mode. i will try updating my graphics card driver, maybe that will do the trick- drew

It's a graphics card issue. Update your graphics card and it should fix it.

thanks everybody for the tips, but i ended up fixing it another way. And incase anyone else has this problem, here is the solution: increase your monitor frequency. they normally are at 60HZ, but when i increased mine to 72 HZ (using the graphics card interface) the flashing went away because the computer updated the image on the screen 70/60 times faster or 116% more per second than at 60HZ. This is my reasoning at least- drew
