Slabs on Grade using simply supported two-way slab formula 1

Hi All,
would it be sufficient to use below calculations for a slab supported on grade? I am working to book (Reinforced Concrete Design to Eurocodes Design Theory and Examples Fourth Edition)
simply supported two-way slab: Corners free to lift
* Design of moment reinforcement
* Shear resistance
* Deflection

That’s not how I would approach jt personally. What would you take as the ‘span’?

I would design to TR34.

With this method you Assume a 1 meter wide strip of the width and length of the slab, as shown on attachment.

As he asked, if it is supported on grade, what is the span? The method you are suggesting has edge support, not on grade support.

Hi I have attached what i have calculated for the slab.
The slab is 6.19 x 3.031 x 0.150 meters and yes i no what i have calculated is not for a slab on grade, I was just trying to ascertain if the simply supported two way slab calculations attached could be used as an over estimate or substitute to using TR34 calculations.

Using the proposed two way slab formula, only bottom reinforcement would be required. Top reinforcement would be required if the slab is on a swelling soil or if the edges are sustaining line loads which must be resisted by the slab.
