slow SW performance

OK, here is my dilema. My models include one part (between 30mb and 130 mb) arrayed out into an assembly and then that assembly is arrayed out again. With this final assembly I get very poor performance, especially trying to create a drawing (ie, just trying to suppress a part is about 2 min). I just got a super duper IBM P4 1.5 Ghz, 1GB ram, Diamond 300mhz video card etc and my performance really hasnt improved much over my old 800mhz machine. When my computer is acting sluggish it is definitely the processor that is pegged, with the memory at about 20% used.

Anyone have any ideas on how to spped things up? Thanks a lot.

I'd say you should try making your base model more "simple" by supressing some features before you complete your dual arrays. Seems that you would only need a certain level of model detail for a single part, while your arrays are being used for some sort of layout function. If this is true, then you can supress the heck out of your model untill it is a basic representation of the final assembly. I don't think they have fully tested SW with the P4 yet. At comp.cad.solidworks I think I read there about someone having trouble with the P4's being sluggish. Then again it's Monday and I could be wrong :).

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of card is a Diamond 300mhz video card?:cool: Scott Baugh, CSWP :)
