Hi,
what kind of PSV is applicable to slurry discharge?
-solid suspension in liquid water with KOH
-total Solid 35000 mg/L
-Density: 1400 kg/m3

Getting such a relief valve to relieve might not be such a big problem. Getting it to re-seat reliably WILL be a problem.

Perhaps a rupture disc is more appropriate, combined with some other controls to eliminate any operational overpressure cases.

I've seen several charts which document the installation for different sevices.. the Parry relief valve handbook has such a chart.

If your slurry is hazardious you will be guided down the route of a bursting disc and relief valve. (For KOH that would probably be approprate).

alternatively if this is on a positive displacement pump you may choose for a high integrity (or hard wired) local trip on the pump discharge rather than a relief valve - i've seen this done many times.

Concur with jamesbanda, unless there is an absolute need for a relief valve don't use it, it'll work once as designed.

My first question can the pump discharge be blocked? If instrumentation is workable a quick risk accessment can determine if SIL is required.
