I'm looking for a 38 ton chiller. The only vendor I know of off the top of my head that would build that sort of unit would be Berg. I called York and they don't do anything that small. This is for an industrial environment, Class 1 Div 2, etc.

What other vendors are there out there I should contact?

Onwards,

Matt

We recently purchased a low temperature 50ton unit from Tempest-eng.com. Similar to the one in the shipping container. If you can move your chiller to an unclassified area and pump over to your process that would save you some bucks.

why does it have to class 1 div 2? What temperatures are you trying to reach -20F or +20 F.

Nutemp rents and sells some units.

It has to be class 1 div 2 because it's in a refinery, essentially.

We're still working on the design temp of the chiller. Further clarification has shown that the size is a lot smaller as well (thankfully). We're down to about 60 kW heat duty at about 20 gpm of water flow.

Looking at Trane and Berg. Those are the only folks that have replied. I'll check out Nutemp.

Onwards,

Matt

Once a year, Chemical Engineering magazine puts out a directory of vendors to the CPI. It's worth the cost of the subscription by itself.

Good luck,

you are on the right track with those conditions. do you have waste heat? if so use ammonia absorption chiller
