We use SmarTeam for PDM. We just added resources (and may well add a lot more soon). Up to now we have had a 1:1 user/licence ratio for Smarteam. This is no longer possible due to a number of other issues (including budget restraints - it's expensive - $3,000 per licence plus $500 a year). Frankly, I think that was a luxury anyway. We will now have about 31 users total, 27 being SW users and 20 SmarTeam licences. Some are full and/or part time users of smarTeam to various degrees. We may add one more server and another RAID array of 600MB to 1TeraB and maybe another licence or two max............ or not.
Any comments about using all floating licences at about 2:3 (maybe eventually 1:2) ratio of licences to users rather than 1:1 would be much appreciated.
Also, if we add a second server, my thoughts are we keep the ratio of ocassional to full-time users even on both rather then loading them all on one. Comments?
I seem to recall comments in past threads on using the floating deliberately licence/time-out methodology for logical reasons rather than business/ecconomic. Any input on that would also be greatly appreciated.
Last thing - any comments on managing the PDM situation and using outside contract drafting houses with SW?
