SmarTeam - independent copy of a PRODUCT structure

Dear gentlemen,

I would like to make an independent copy of a product - a new product file itself with all links, relations, parameters, etc. to new part files itself (the way if I change something in the original version it will have no effect on the second version - and backward). Apparently, the SmarTeam version used in my company is impaired. There is no such options as described here and here. No "design copy" option.

There is an option "Copy File" option:

It is copying "something" "somewhere", but I do not see where the results of that "copy" are...

I was trying to use "save management" outside SmarTeam but it is a nightmare.


Any advice is heavily appreciated.

So the official solution is:
1) check-in all documents
2) close other documents (leave only those ones to be copied)
3) make sure main product is defined as "work object"
4) SmarTeam -> "save as" on main product with a different name (put different definition in profile card)
5) select any other sub-product/part you want to save as independent copy as "work object" (double click) and repeat step 4)
6) voila, after hours of work you may have your independent copy... if you are patient enough
