OP is asking about use on VIII-2 vessels. Forged socket-welding and threaded fittings per ASME B16.11 are permitted per Table 1.1

They are not prohibited, as cbPVme points out. However, they carry a hefty price/penalty in the fatigue screening assessment or fatigue analysis.
