Can anyone tell me what is Soft Turbocharging?. Any material related to Soft Turbocharging available on the net would be useful.

Thanks for the replies in advance

At a guess, I would suggest it is a bulls**t marketing term to try to promote very low boost systems, without implying low or weak, but to imply gentle and durable, kind of like 95% fat free vs 5% fat.

Careful Pat. If you keep writing like that, you might end up with a reputation like mine! It's not really a problem though. A few months in exile (call it a vacation if you prefer) usually repairs it!

Oh well, if I can't do the time, I shouldn't do the crime.

I tend only to do it where there might not be to much opposition to the view. So far no problem.

Volvo used to market cars (such as the model 740) with what they called low pressure turbo. Of course every Volvo engineer knew where to put the tee into the manifold to waste gate hose to create a "leak" and increase the boost to dangerous levels.

Sabb manufactured a V6 that had assymetrical turbocharging, exhaust from three cylinders spooled up the turbo which in turn fed the six cylinders. This was classed as a soft turbo installation and it was done this way to increase the torque of the engine. Soft turbo charging is a way of getting a little more out of the engine without going whole hog and trying to extract every horse that they can. It can also be used as a marketing ploy to sell cars, the kludos of having a turbo......
