I have been searching around for a good training program to learn SAP2000 and STAAD.Pro softwares. All I can find as of now are the web based tutorials offered on the software developers' website. Is anybody aware of any in-class training programs, offered by certified training institutes ? Is in-class learning better than web based tutorials ? Please let me know.

For convenience I prefer online because you can do it more freely. However having said that I do believe in class is better because you can talk to teacher and learn from others. I personally hate all the travelling because I live miles from anywhere.

I've attended a number of training seminars on different software programs and I would never turn one down, BUT I do find that they are not as productive as I would hope. What sticks with me is actually modeling a building (not the standard model that they typically just have you load) and figure out where everything is for yourself. In my experience it gets committed to memory much better that way.

SEIT and wwman: Thanks for the input.
SEIT: Where did you attend the training seminars. Was it organized by the local ASCE chapter ? Do you have any specific training facility in mind.

The seminars I attended were put on by Bentley and were multiple days long. It was in PA.
