Hi everyone
I am new to this website, i've got a question and i would be very grateful if anybody can help me.
I wanted to test a soil nail for verification test, DTL was 100 kN, Bar dia=32mm with 4000 kN/m2 yield stress and unbonded length=9m, bonded length=3m, i applied 6100 psi pressure with a powerteam jack and the maxixmum elongation was about 4 cm, but the nail didnt pull out my question is since the maximum elastic elongation for this bar is 2.27cm, what is the minimum and maximum nail bond movement that fully mobilizes the soil strength cause i want to show that with this 4cm movement we should be i plastic zone of bar?
thanks

Did the 4 cm of movement also include residual movement of the nail? Did you take a reading after unloading the nail? You called the 4 cm the "maximum elongation." Total movement includes elastic elongation and creep movement. It is possible you had more or less elastic movement than the 2.27 cm of theoretical elastic movement and the remaining total movement could be residual movement.
