Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out to the community to discuss kinematic analysis using SOL 402.
I’ve been working as a structural engineer for the past 4 years, during which I’ve developed solid expertise in linear and non-linear static analyses (SOL 101 and SOL 106), buckling analyses (SOL 105), and normal modes analyses (SOL 103). However, I’ve never had the opportunity to work on kinematic analyses.
While I’ve always been able to find sufficient resources online to understand and set up analyses for SOL 101, 103, 105, and 106, I’m finding it much more challenging to locate comprehensive material or tutorials on SOL 402. The lack of accessible resources makes it difficult to acquire the knowledge needed to properly configure and execute kinematic analyses.
If anyone has experience with SOL 402 or can point me toward useful references, tutorials, or best practices, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
In the meantime, I’ve decided to perform an analysis on the attached 2D model. Once the solution is complete, I’ll share a detailed tutorial for the community.
Specifically, I designed two rollers that pull a metal sheet and a third roller that performs the bending after the pulling is completed.
The arrow in the geometry file show the direction of rotation and displacement that i want to impose to the roller.
I’ve meshed the geometry using plane stress elements, defined the contact regions, and set up connections and constraints to allow rotation around the axes.
I’d like to ask for your help in understanding how to set up mesh rotations with constant angular velocity, traslation on defined path (circular) and , subsequently, configure SOL 402.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. A big thank you to everyone in advance.
