Hello.

I have a project where I need to size a solar storage tank based on 12-16 evacuated tube panels. Each panel has 20 tubes. This is the double wall evacuated tube heat pipe system.

Question is: I need 5000L/Day of hot water at 60C. I figured I'd put in 2000L of storage so 4 x 115USG indirect hot water heaters. Is that enough or too much storage?
Each tank is 115USG (450L) so I figured 4 tanks would suffice..?

Thanks,

Haz

This forum is related more to design issues than sizing issues, thus the lack of responses.

I would think the storage required would be very variable depending on the performance you needed.

Too much storage and you get into heat loss issues from the storage tanks. Too little and the demand is affected.

Try starting with a small storage capacity and increase it until a balance is reached that is acceptible to you.

Might try the "Heat Transfer & Thermodynamics engineering" forum.
