Solenoid Design

Hello,

I work for a company that's developing a new product from some existing technology. We have a question regarding the existing technology. It's a solenoid actuated device, similar to a fuel injector. We'd like to know if the design can be improved upon. It would be nice if the device could be improved to produce the same result, using less power, by redesigning it. Would a different coil be better? Longer? Shorter? More windings? Fewer windings? Tighter clearances? Different metals? We'd like someone to look at the current design and answer these questions.

Do any of you know of a good engineer or company that we can hire for this project? We'd like it if they specialized in solenoids, or at least electromagnetics.

An NDA would have to be signed.
