Hey all...
I'm working on a project that requires a pair of solid coin-silver slip rings. Not the typical assemblies as most places sell, but un-mounted rings in a size range that would allow me to machine them to a finished size of 1/2” wide x 3.001” I.D x 3.250” O.D. I would prefer that the rings be supplied to me with the I.D. finished and the O.D. oversized about .01, however any rings that will get me to the finished dimensions will do.
The application is a custom built piece of test equipment that is designed to run as high as 20,000 RPM. There are multiple silver impregnated brushes per ring (to reduce noise).
Currently we have an old unit that has a bunch of wear and tear, so it needs to be replaced soon.
Any help that can be provided say... by directing me to a source for the raw or finished rings, or even to place that will sell me a pair of coin silver disks (about .5 x 3.25) would be awesome.
Twice now I've had silver bar/tubing companies nibble on the sale… only to spit the hook. Too small an order? That's my guess but they won't even say for sure. I realize that the rings will be expensive but due to the speed and low noise requirements solid coin silver seems to be required.
This is my first post. I've been reading this forum for a while though so I have much hope.
Thanks
Ralph
