I am fairly new to solid edge and have been experiancing a problem that Solid Edge support is unable to help me with. I am running SE v15 on a 2.8Ghz P4 with 256Mb RAM & a 3DLabs 64Mb Wildcat vp560 video card (recomended by UG website) The problem is when I go to edit a profile with say several entities the computer stops responding. Sometimes if I walk away for several minutes everything comes back but more often than not I have to end task and end up loosing everything. SE says it's the video card, 3D labs says it's SE. Any Ideas???

Sincerely
L.A. Wilson

LA Wilson,

One thing that might help is increasing your RAM to at least 512 Mb or even 1 Gig. Video card issues are always tricky and I don't have a good answer for you right now but I'll look on the UG site for other posts. If you have access to the Solid Edge forum on the UG site, you might also want to post on that site. There are some power users who have helped me out quite a bit in the past.

Hi

Are you using the options "Sketch relationship colors", I know it may sound stupid to ask this and probably you already know that or Solid edge support may have already ask this, but if this options is checked, it slows down dramatically solid edge in sketch environment because with a lot of lines solid edge keeps checking if everything is fully constrained so he keeps computing a lot for nothing.

Just unchecked it and you will see the difference, (if this is the problem of course)

Good luck

Patrick

Pat,

I can't believe Solid Edge support didn't alert me to this setting. I turned off the Sketch relationship colors and presto..... No more lockups.

Thanks a bunch. This will save me hours of headaches.

Sincerely,

Maybe they don't want to admit that it's an option they putted into SE just to say that they have the same features as Solid Works. And they don't really took care of doing something as good as they can do when they want to.

Damn marketing pressures.

Have a nice day
