Hi,

Please, have a look at the picture below:

Let's say you are asked to create a solid model from the given features ( 2 sketches and a guide).
What workbench and feature would you use to create it:

A) Part design:
1. Multi-Sections Solid
2. Rib

B) Generative Shape Design:
1. Sweep:
- Explicit (3 different option)
- Line (7 different option)
- Circle (7 different option)
- Conic (4 different option)

2. Multi-Sections Surface Definition

C) Other tools

Thank you,

It all depends on what else you plan to do with the result.

If the two profiles are the same, then I would use the Rib command. If the profiles are different, then I would use the Multi-Section Solid.

(I would also add a Spine curve)

c) why not adaptive sweep ?

but like Jackk already said, if at the end you need a solid then go with solid function, if you need surface or volume then go GSD...

Although every person who answered knows this, I'd like to point out that for rib command, is not only the end-profile important (i.e. to be identical to start profile) but the position related to guide curve. In other words, the end profile might be identical with the start profile but a slight angle relative to guide curve will change the equation.
With all that said, I wouldn't use rib.
