I have been asked by my companies management to evaluate and purchase a data translation software to increase our success at in house healing ,repair and translation of file formats from other systems, such as iges ,step, Parasolid , ACIS etc. To Pro/e

So I am asking for your success or failure stories with software such as Pro/e import data doctor , Cadfix , or any other similar software. Sorry for the multiple postings but as we are a mold designers I am also posting this to mold exploder looking for any problems they may have. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

We've had some (one model) success with using Cadfix to get troublesome Pro/E surface models into Patran. A direct translation failed due to differences in the precision between the two packages. Cadfix did a &quot;virtual demo&quot; for us on the web in which they took our model, fixed the errors and imported it into Pro/E. However, if the Patran analysis implied changes would need to occur in the Pro/E model we would have had to ante up once again to convert the &quot;new&quot; Pro/E model into Patran again for re-analysis. We don't do this kind of thing frequently enough (yet) to warrant purchasing the s/w.
Once you start looking closer at Cadfix they look quite impressive. It is owned by FEGS, a subsidiary of ITI (iti-oh.com) who are the company that WRITE many of the IGES and STEP translators for the CAD s/w companies. They have an intimate knowledge of the code that goes into creating exportable files (and thus stand a good chance of making dissimilar systems talk to each other). They can create neutral files of a staggering variety depending on what you're trying to do.

CADFix is probably the way to go here.
So far i have found nothing it has had any trouble healing into a solid.
I have tried the old, fix it yourself thing and CADFix is the stuff if you are looking for speed. I
Pro/E.......the only way to draw!

CADfix is great!
I still heal manually to ensure volumetric accuracy.
But, I have tried it and it did a great job!
