I translated a step file to solid works and inserted into an assembly. As I tried to open the part to inspect, the history and the model was not visible. I have a part file with no model. Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Cor,
There is nothing to post. Just the file and no model.
Everything is there but the history.
Thanks,

Everything is there but the history.

A STEP file does not have a feature history.
Do you have a STEP file or not.
Attach it here so that someone can tell you what is going on. Otherwise it is a shot in the dark to try to figure out.
If you can't attach the step - can you attach a screen shot of what you do see after import?

Step, iges, parasolid files will import with no features. They are just dumb solids.

That is by design for all cad software.

There is no CAD system on the planet that I know of that can do this for the feature tree. There is a reason why STEP, parasolid, IGES, VDA, STL, etc. are called dumb solids.

If the 3D model was missing then, perhaps when you exported it, some step was missed. How big was the STEP file?

kellnerp, I think that is what happened, some step must have been missed. I re-imported the step and it was fine. Thanks to all for the help
