Anyone having trouble with Solidworks Professional 2010 x64 version and Windows 7, relating to mating issues. Seems when mating on larger assembly Solidworks will lock up or just shut down. Really hard to pin point exactly when it happens.

Drivers have been updated, Solidworks re-installed.

System is Intel core 2 duo CPU, E8400 @ 3GHz, 8 GB ram, 64 Bit system.

Thank you

Define "large"...
I'm running SW2010 on a Win7 machine, with 8GB RAM, without major issues. I, generally, restart twice a day to clear memory (and give me an excuse to get up), or if I notice SW starting to bog down. My assembly only comprises 343 parts, so it's not all that large at all.
Is it possible that you're creating redundant, or circular, mates? I know that I've done that on occasion.

I had a world of hurt getting my SW2010SP0 running on my new Win7Pro64 Dell box. Was able to move forward when someone here gave me advice to install SW2010SP4 from the net. Finally got moving.

Then two weeks ago I identified a proven repeatable problem that had SW TechSupport scurrying. Was unable to insert an assembly into another assembly via macro commands. Something deep inside SW was growling and not happy...left it for them to resolve that conflict.

Given my recent experience, and the advent of new OS hardware like Win7Pro-64, I'd say SW2010+Win7Pro-64 hasn't matured yet and we'll all have to suffer through it until it does.

JMirisola, yes it does happen to be circular mating issues. It is two guys here that seem to be having problems. Their computers here at work were both changed from Windows XP -64 bit to Win 7 -64 bit and the problems have began.

Thanks for the replies.

I've got the same machine/specs as you mentioned above, and v2010 runs quite reliably on my machine (better than v2009). I'd guess the difficulties may be related to the circular mate issues mentioned above.

Theophilus, seems like the circular mate is the problem, hard to figure, no one can really pin point the problem. Thanks
