I am trying to make an aligned section view. However every time I finish drawing my section line the projected view is longer than the parent part. Also the view adds features that do not exist. How can I make sure the section view stays the same size and shows the actual features of the part?

Solidworks - Aligned Section View longer than actual part

Use the regular Section tool, not the Aligned Section tool.

The Aligned Section View shows the total length of the "cut" as if the section line is straightened.
The regular Section View shows the "cut" as viewed in the direction of the section arrows only.

It cannot be "shut off", and doesn't need to be ... just don't use it.
If you want the regular section style, use the regular Section View.
If you want the regular section style, use the regular Section View.
