Solidworks Assembly Design Table link to Part Custom Properties

Using Solidworks I’m creating a top down assembly besides the dimensions of the parts being pulled into the BOM through the custom properties I need to be able to change material grades etc... I have pull down boxes in the Assembly design table that will allow you to change thickness and material grade that are linked to a table via match and lookup it will retrieve the corresponding part number. I need to know if possible how to link these either to a design table inside the parts or can I use syntax to drive them from the assembly design table.
