I have been running solidworks for about a month at my company and there are 2 other computers attached on a network and I have just started seeing errors when ever I open certain files stating that they are open else where. Does anyone know where these errors are coming from. We have restarted all computers and reinstalled solidworks and still cannot axcess the files. Any info would be a huge help

Are you using a PDM system?

If no PDM system, is the Tools > Options > System Options > Collaboration function enabled on each computer?

Do a search for any SolidWorks files with a (tilde) ~ prefix, and delete them.

I agree with CBL.
I have actually seen SW users (especially from an ACAD background [wink]) that force shut-down their PCs with software still running.
This will cause the files to show the (tilde) ~ prefix. It will also show when SW crashes while a file is open.

Thanks alot I removed all the tilde prefix files and have gained axcess to all of my files. I still have about half of them that I can't axcess after checking the entire retwork for the ~ files. I was wonder if it could have anything to do with any compadibility issues between solidworks 2009 and windows 7
