Hi all,

I've been trying to start up solidworks (2011), but every time it gets to the splash screen, the splash screen says on for 10 seconds then it disappears, then nothing, completely dead.

Anyone experienced this before?

Run the task manager to see what processes are actually running. You may have hung copies of solidworks still going.

Hi snowcrash,

I've already looked into that, but there was nothing running. I may have to do a reinstall. :(

XP, 6gb RAM, i7 chip.

SWx was running fine yesterday.

You could try a registry reset first. That would take just a couple of minutes.

CorBlimey, If I do a reset that means installing all the software on my PC.

? I meant just reset the SW registry.

Enter the registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software and rename SolidWorks to SolidWorks-OLD (any name is OK), and close registry. When SW is started it will re-write the registry key. If that works, the "OLD" key can be removed.

WARNING: This will reset SW back to a default install. All customizing will be lost.

Thanks Corblimey, just tried it, but it's still not starting up. I'm going to reinstall it.

Corblimey, thanks for your help, but I've now reinstalled SW and it's runny smoothly again.

Didn't know about the clean uninstall, I couldn't actually open any SW apps, I just uninstalled straight from add/remove programs.

Thanks
