I have run into an odd little quark that I cannot figure out. I am trying to set all of my .sldprt icons to the same 'part' image rather than showing a little preview or each drawing. When I went to Tool, Folder Options, File Types, and then try to change the icon in there, it would appear to change to the common 'part' icon but in actuallity the icon would still stay as a preview of the part. Anyone have an recommendation for this? I am running Windows 2000 if that may make a difference. Thanks in advance.

I think there is a setting under system options that you have to uncheck first.

Tools\System Options

Under the General Tab look for
Show thumbnail graphics in Windows Explorer.
Make sure it is unchecked.

In Windows Explorer, try right click in the blank area, customize, then change the properties to show icons. I have the pics show for icons, but I think this is the process I did to make it work. Hope it works.

Sounds like you have to turn off the thumbnail graphic image option in SW. In SW, goto your System Options (Tools->Options). On the General page look for a "Show thumbnail graphics in windoze explorer" and uncheck it. This should bring back the default part/drawing/assy icons.

Thanks alot for the help, it worked.

Well, now that you say that it went straight back to where I started. I used jimijames's advice (everyones was basically the same) and it worked great for about 3 minutes. Now I am back to square one so if there are any other settings out there, feel free to share.

Should have know, restarting SW worked. Thanks.

I don't mean to restart the discussion Creigbm, but I'm just curious....why did you want to change the icons??

Just a personal preference. I would rather see the generic picture of a part or assy than a really small preview of the actual part.
