I am trying to export a sketch or surface from SolidWorks to Abaqus CAE. I want it to be an axisymmetric part. Has anybody done this? A best practices outline would be great. This is what I have been doing so far:
1. Export IGES from SolidWorks
2. Import IGES to SolidWorks
3. Remove all unnecessary geometry (lots of extra garbage like planes and sketches)
4. Reexport IGES from SolidWorks
5. Import to Abaqus CAE as a part
6. Error "Geometry of file is incompatible with AXISYMMETRIC dimensionality
7. Import Sketch
8. Geometry lies in both positive and negative X even though when imported to SolidWorks it is only in the positive
Thanks for your help.
