We are running SW2004 Sp4.2 on Win2000 SP4. We have had SP4.2 installed for about 2 weeks with no problems. For some reason over the last couple of days our system becomes painfully slow when editing parts in context of an assembly. This is NOT a large complex assembly and this is NOT normal operation of our system. Anyone else seeing this??

Yes, I also have seen it last couple of days. I am editing one right now .. restroom/coffee break while waiting.

In-contexted assembly will be slower then an assembly just like it without incontexted parts in it. You have added complexity by in-contexing those parts.

Have you cleaned out your TEMP's?
Run a repair of SW to ensure everything is cleaned and installed corectly? I run reapir about every 2-3 weeks to ensure everything is good.

See FAQ for Cleaning out your TEMP's
