Solidworks to abaqus - Units

Hello all,

Quick question, if I create a model in solidworks in 'mm' and import to abaqus, does the model then import in 'mm' and is there anywhere I need to specify this when I import geometry?

I also noticed that if I change the same solidworks model units to 'm' instead of 'mm' before I import the part into abaqus, it measures the part in 'm' when I import it to abaqus. The results seems to be the same which ever unit defintion I use in solidworks, how can I check units in abaqus? i am a little confused on this.

Can anyone please help?

Check the export options in SW some of the file types have a default system of units. Measure the part in Abaqus and SW to make sure you have the right units.

abaqus doesn't have units if i remember correctly. you have to make sure that all your dims, material constants etc use the same units (lenght in m and E in MPa don't go well together for instance)
