Hi ,

I was wondering if i would be able to convert a Solidworks file to AutoCad format? im using autocad 2002 and solidworks 2004. I Believe the correct format for AutoCad is DWG. Can the solidworks file be converted and opened on AutoCad ?

Advice appreciated

Regards

Dave

File\Save as\DWG - try looking in the help on this one... there is an option button that becomes available then... click on that and view more options.

Sure can, just do "save" as and select dwg. If you have multiple sheets in SW you have to do this for each sheet, far as I can tell.

With SolidWorks document/file open, do a "Save as" ... in the File Type you will see a list of all the formats that the file can be saved to.

Also a quick look in the SolidWorks Help file (yes SW does have one) [smile] for Export will list the options.

Just to be clear, you can convert a SW drawing file to AutoCad dwg format. You have to make the drawing first, though, right?

SnowCrash, you can save a model to a .sat file. This is a "dumb" solid format, but it can be read in to AutoCAD.
