Volunteerd to mentor high school students and they are planning on using Creo elements. Would like to consider myself well versed in SolidWorks but am having some trouble understanding Creo sketching functions and realtions. How can i create a construction line of a finite length? How can i use the midpoint of an edge of an extrude to snap a construction line to? How do you create equations? I know for the seasoned guys these seem like small issues but any help, reference, book you can point me to would be greatly appreciated. Basically looking for the sketching for dummy's manual. Thanks

Russell,

If you are using Creo 1.0 though other versions will be somewhat similar as sketcher has not changed that dramatically for a couple of versions, then I suggest using Learning Exchange for Creo

To me this was a huge help. But for a quick answer to your question you can create a geometry line of finite length, then right click, then select construction. Or new to Creo you can enter "construction mode" were everything you create will be construction. To use a midpoint of an extruded edge use the "project" command, then create a construction point on the line and drive a midpoint constraint (which is with the parallel, orthogonal, tangent etc. options).

The learning exchange tutorials will definitely get you up to speed fairly quick though.

Hope that helps,

jvian thank you for the tips. The information you provided me was more than i found in the help files. Armed with that info i actually feel like i could tackle the stuff at the learning exchange. For some odd reason i have no use of the right mouse button. Is there some secret trick to this? Again thanks for the help.
