Can dual screens be incorporated in using solidworks 2003?
If so how are they set up?

SW doesn't directly support Dual monitors. But it can be setup using a graphics card that supports dual monitors. It varies between cards and drivers used for those cards.

I recently downloaded the latest drivers for my NVIDEA graphics card.
It now lets me create multiple desktops.
I set-up a hot-key shortcut to toggle between the two.
Now I can have one desktop for SolidWorks and put everything else on the other.
I know it's not two monitors, but it sort-of works the same.

I can run the multiple desktops on my box also using NVidia's nview. I am not sure I understand the big advantage to using it. Do you have any suggestions on how this works well with solidworks and other apps.

I have a CAD desktop & a DEFAULT desktop.
I can isolate SolidWorks on the CAD and the FEATURE PALLETTE on the DEFAULT.
I'm assuming the reason most folks want dual monitors is to maximize real estate on the main monitor by pushing toolbars & dialog boxes to the other.
I also put WINDOWS OUTLOOK, EXPLORER, EXCEL & other apps I run simultaneously with SolidWorks on the DEFAULT.
The only downside I've found so far is when I drag/drop from a regular explorer window - instead of the FEATURE PALLETTE. There's a slight - but tolerable - delay.

How do you separate the feature pallete from the dwg window to put them on separate desktops.

You actualy have to do it backwards.
Open SolidWorks on the DEFAULT desktop, open your FEATURE PALLETTE, then move SolidWorks to the CAD.
That's why I use a WINDOWS EXPLORER window rather than the FEATURE PALLETTE window.
Besides, I like navigating with the EXPLORER folders better than using the FEATURE PALLETTE navigtion toolbar.

Just a historical note - no criticism intended.
the origins of dauls were in HAVING to have separate text and graphics monitors in the early days. When this need went away the majority of users quickly honed in on singles. Aplicon Bravo were the last hold-out and bet the farm on "old fashioned" duals...... and virtually bought the farm because of it. That had a lot to do with their choice of graphics chip also on the financial level.

Never the less you are in the minority of people who like duals. BTW: Ergonomics studies will tell you it is terribly bad for your neck, etc. Which is in fact one one of the early reasons for the move to singles.

Anyway, glad there is a way for you, but don't look for lots of support from SW to push duals.

So, you're worried about the ergonomic perils of dual monitor usage.
Let me suggest that you keep your main monitor directly in front of you, and your second monitor to the left of your main - on odd numbered days.
Then on even numbered days, move your second monitor to the right of your main.
Then - while we're on the subject - mouse right-handed in the AM & left-handed in the PM.
Now this is the tricky part - pay attention.
If you also use a Spaceball type input device, it will be necessary to alternate AM & PM also, but the opposite as stated previously.
I think that just about covers it.
