hi friends
i am not much professional with drafting application and have some issues with assembly drawings on parts list.

1. parts list contains all components but auto balloon do not include all components! whats wrong?
2. when i add a new column to parts list and for example want to type some text manually in cells, brackets will appears that i cant remove them. whats the solution?
3. it is not possible to balloon without auto balloon command that points to part list items. any instruction?

1. For some reason this happens to us also. Hoping someone has a good answer.

2. To fix this issue right click on your parts list, go to settings or cell settings (I can never remember which one). Find highlight manual text turn this setting off.

3. There is a balloon command, use it, select your object like you do a note leader. Then the balloon leader will be empty, click on update parts list, this balloon should populate the with the correct callout. Also this is how we balloon the components that don't balloon with auto balloon.

I think that the reason for 1) is that NX needs to "see" the component in this view, if NX fails that, or it doesn't have any edges visible in this view , it will not place an autoballon there.
but, if you have multiple views, you can autoballoon again and select a different, or multiple, view-s.
The default rule when autoballooning is that a component is only allowed to be ballooned once, if "component A" has a balloon in view 1, it will not get another in view 2.

2) as Sdeters notes. the [brackets] is the way that the parts list can/will show any manual texts.
( I use that when i suspect people to have foul-created the parts list...)

3) The parts list will use a given type of balloon as the type to update, normally this is circular balloons. ( I guess that is an international standard.)
because of this , the partslist will update ALL circular ballons, but not triangular , rectangular, hexagon, etc etc.
You can however set those types as "the type" to use.
I have at a few times used "underlined text" as the "balloon", and instead of a "callout number" I set the balloon to show the Item id.
( as seen in manuals, exploded views and such.)

Hi again
Tomas and SDETERS thanks for great answers.

Another question pops in mind is about ordering part list items. For example I have two assemblies, ASM_A and ASM_B. first I created components of ASM_A and then built it. Then I created ASM_B Components that they are versions of ASM_A Components. There is some differences in dimensions and some geometries. But NX applies different order in parts list items for ASM_A and ASM_B drawings.
Is there any way to change parts list order(PC NO) to create same numbering for similar components?

The PC NO is in the attributes of the components. Do you run teamcenter? If you right click on a component in your assembly, find the callout attribute the number in this attribute hopefully matches the PC NO in your parts list. Change these callout numbers to be consistent between the two assemblies. Hope this helps.

There are "two" ( Three) options, either you manually set the attribute "Callout" to a specific number, or You use the Sort option ( Right click -Sort) on the partslist and let NX do the work.
We have a specific attribute "item class" which we use to 1:st sort , - fabricated by ourselves, bought items , fasteners etc
2:nd sort is item ID. Note that the sorting option allows you to sort on a number of columns but NOT the PC No, that column will be the result of the sort.

3) You can let Teamcenter dictate the PC no by setting the callout number.

Tomas
