I cant find a source for 13,8 kV MV contactors. Who knows?
Are contactors available or do I need to use circuit breakers? We have high switching sequence and that is the reason why I would prefer contactor.

Hello Difference,

There's a bunch of manufacturers & suppliers out there, in fact to many to list here.

Would suggest you go to and type the search text:

"MV Switchgear"
"HV Switchgear"
"MV Contactors"
"MV Circuit Breakers"
"HV Contactors"
"HV Circuit Breakers"

Then repeat the exersize using the words Medium Voltage and High Voltage in place of MV and HV in the above.

Hello Difference,
I have in front of me a catalog of Schneider. Look at They do from 3 to 24 kV.
Contactor up to 15kV are rated 400Amps and withstand about 10kA
The ones suitable for 24kV are rated 250Amps and can interrupt 25kA.

You can have these in cells with or without fuses.

I had a project on dedusting of an ore breaker plant. The main fan was "only" a 1350kWatt 6kVolt motor.
There was no question about any high switching pace at all. The motor manufacturer had set an interval of 2 hours between starts.
Furthermore launching the machine which, I admit, was coupled to an enormous fan wheel, was a painstaking and scary operation, even with a softstarter in the line. We needed to call and ask permission to several plants in the neighbourhood before we could launch the machine and draw a mere 600Amps at 6kV during a minute or so.
I wish you all the best.

Best regards
