Can anyone recommend a source/company that produces ultra high temperature dielectrics, 500 Celsius and above, for use in Microwave products. Prefer lower relative dielectric value ranges in the 3-6 range, but up to 10 may be OK too.
Size of the part required is approximately 10"x1"x0.060" max. and 2"x 0.5"x 0.030" minimum. Must be able to metallize the surface of the dielectric with some high temperature conductor.

Most commerical dielectrics are rated only up to 300 degrees Celsius.

I have looked at some products from Transtech in New Jersey. They make ceramic dielectrics of various dielectric values and temperature ranges. Are there any other sources for what I seek, options such as the tiles for the Space Shuttle, I'm curious what company manufactures those tiles.
Thanks
kch.

Try a google search on high temperature radome materials. I remember there is a range of nitride based ceramics w/low loss out there. Been out of this loop for a while though.

A long time ago I worked in a thick film hybrids plant. High temp substrates (dielectrics) at the time were alumina, and for high thermal transfer applications - typically high density power modules for the military - we used aluminium nitride and beryllia (nasty material). One of the substrate suppliers was Hoescht (spelling, anyone?).

For materials associated with thick film hybrids, the suppliers I remember were Ferro and duPont. There were probably a couple of others which I have forgotten.

In Europe, Welwyn Components are worth a call. One of the sister companies in the States was IRC in Texas, although I'm not sure of their full product line these days.

Hope this helps.
