For the last two days I'm using the space explorer from 3D connexion, and I found few things that I do not like:

- In sketch mode it's not possible to rotate the
model, only PAN and ZOOM allowed. On connexion web
page I have read that with Space pilot is allowed to
rotate in sketch mode.

- In assembly mode, when I drag compass to the part in
order to move it, space explorer starts to rotate the
part within the assembly and not the view.

If somebody had the same situation, please inform me if it's possible to change it. (I'm using V5 R14 )

Rgds,
Damir

1. I believe this is an option of the 3D Connexion driver. Look to the driver help.

2. This is an option in CATIA. Tools, Options, General, Devices and Virtual Reality, Devices, Virtual Reality Options, move compass with 3D devices

Thanks Jim,

1. I had to switch from rotation to 'Catia rotation
toggle' on 2D button

2. Wonderful

One more thing, how do you assign catia commands to buttons... I have Catia 1, Catia 2... but can find the way to assign anything?

In order to change the button mapping, open the '3DX device' toolbar and press the 'Opens Buttons Customization Dialog Box' and you can add commands to each of the buttons.

Method 2: If you haven't changed any of the buttons, Button 1 should be programmed for the above feature.

Method 3: enter 'c:VR Button Customization' into the command box.

Thanks unwinste,

I have already find the 'Button customization dialog box' accidentally :)

I worked before for two years in V4 with space mouse, and I must say that I never want to work without 3D device, period!

Space explorer is working perfectly...
